Here, our COO Amaru Gonzalez Pereira stands proudly with what we believe is the future of waste management!
As an engineer, she had to learn everything about Black Soldier Flies from scratch to make this project come to life.

Her dedication and hard work have paid off, and we can now work towards a brighter, more sustainable future.

This project serves as proof that with commitment, perseverance, and patience, there are no dreams too big to achieve.

At 8CIRCULAR, we remain committed to developing this project further, and we are excited to continue working towards bringing a sustainable solution to waste treatment using insects.

“Amaru Gonzalez Pereira: “Almost a year ago, I decided to co-found 8CIRCULAR, a startup focused on waste management through an insect called the Black Soldier Fly (BSF). Taking this step has been one of the best decisions of my career. After a lot of hard work, we are proud to have built our first pilot facility from scratch, where I am currently gaining practical know-how and technical experience breeding this small insect.

With my strong scientific background, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to expand my research skills even further as the lead researcher in our facility. I have the role of defining and developing the main activities that will optimize our business plan.

As a process engineer, I am excited to be involved in building a new bottom-up process that spans from laboratory to facility level, based on accurate and systematic data collection.

I must admit that scaling up such a process for living beings can be quite challenging, but it also provides an exciting opportunity for continuous learning. Furthermore, I find it deeply rewarding to work on developing better systems for future food, feed, and circular economy at 8CIRCULAR, as it aligns with my values of sustainability and environmental consciousness.

While the road ahead may be difficult, the potential benefits for our planet and society are enormous.”
